The NXDS won't be that powerful if it means Nintendo would have to ditch their dual screen to do it.

I think the NXDS will be plenty powerful, still have dual screens, still have the clamshell, still have the 3D, and have the top screen have a clean 720p resolution to boot. All for $200-$250.

But I've already made an entire prediction thread about it. But a tablet handheld successor to the 3DS is 100% never happening.

I know you really want the dual-screen setup, but it doesn't make a tonne of sense these days.  Back when touch screen was new and a novelty it made sense to have a seperate screen below that was touch and a better screen above for the main game action.  But these days large touch screens are possible and common, and a the look of an iPad is considered much more cool to kids than that of a DS.

And Nintendo has already switched to a single screen setup with the 2DS, they just sperate it with a plastic bar.  I expect the next handheld to be tablet styled, with a large single screen and physical controls.  The screen will be large enough to simulate two DS screens if needed for older titles.

Id bet in a single screen that can be moved in the vertical position for simulating 2 screens, like 2DS. And also can be used as gimmick for new games, where changing the position of the screen could be used as gameplay mechanic.

In a even bolder assumption (but not likely), the freedom of screen position could lead to a screen that can be separated from the buttons and handheld plastic, and it could act like a tablet for playing mobile games(given that ninty is also making mobile games)
