I didn't realize they hadn't released a tablet with that SOC yet. I recall seeing an Unreal 4 demo that was supposedly running on an X1 powered tablet a while back, so I assumed the tablet would already have released by now.

I think they were waiting for 14nm so the chip can run cooler for a tablet form factor and Nvidia just signed that deal with Samsung for 14nm manufacturing. So that's probably why they've waited. The current Tegra X1 is made on the 20nm process whereas A9X is on the 14nm FinFET process. 

I'm guessing they also maybe wanted to see the A9X first too. 

I see. Man it's an exciting time for mobile hardware. Its a shame not many games will actually take advantage of those specs - though I suppose we're at least getting closer to ps2 emulation on the go.. It'd be great in Nintendo just licensed one of these for their next handheld/console, but I just don't see it happening.
