Cutting the XBO's price by another $50 is dangerous because MS just did that last year. The last thing you want to do is to condition consumers to expect an annual price cut. In addition, last year the XBO went from a $399 to $349 with two games, which was further reduced to $329 on Black Friday. That is a huge jump in value and a jump that will be difficult to match, even if you do cut the price. |
You sir hit the nail on the head. They've already conditioned consumers to expect them to be $50 lower than PS4 (which means they have conditioned them to expect Xbox to be $50 ahead of the natural price reduction curve, thus assuring that they lose money on the console). The last thing they need is to condition them to expect them to be even further ahead of both of those curves. It wouldn't help their sales in the long term all that much and would seriously impact their already weak bottomline.
