I agree, everything you just said are very valid points, and I think had people been able to discuss these things more, and maybe see how buying into it/making it profitable could effect the future, maybe we could've had a bit more control over that aspect of the industry.  Good points though, thanks for replying and no need to apologize :)

i understand that development costs are going up, but i know there are better ways to go about making money and reducing the costs of making the game. also, id love it if we all had eachothers backs, but you honestly have people out there who seem to be more interested in making sure the publisher gets a certain amount of money over making sure that the consumer gets a quality product. baffles me, but as long as there are people out there who think like that, i will be against that mentality.. gamer or not.

Imo, I always thought really solid mods/maps were great publicity for games, as a showcase to the talent that the community has and is willing to invest in their IP.  Additionally, it's a great resource for companies looking for help as well.  We know MM hired a guy who'd made some jaw dropping LBP levels.  Just seems like a win-win to me.   Maybe not as profitable as the closed networks and pumping garbage DLC down our throat, but still provided legs to any game that allowed for it.
