It was good judgment to get someone to take a look at it to make sure that it's safe.
It was terrible judgment to cuff the kid and suspend him. It looks so anti-intellectual to punish a kid for showing off some electrical engineering talent, especially when you use your own ignorance as an excuse to do so.
