Is it acceptable for a Political leader to shun the National Anthem?

Yeah, of course. If he's not a monarch, he won't feel represented by the national anthem. I'm a republican in my country (Spain) and I won't sing my national anthem in years, because it represents something I don't agree with, monarchy.
