Remember that even many research labs instead of buying dedicated computers for their research they bought some PS3s and made it work so they had enough processing power.


While it may not be able to push the pretty pixels of PS4, PS3 and Cell are still some of the most powerful processors available to consumers. Cell still has that potential to do great stuff, but on a larger scale than gaming (i.e. space launches etc.)
