On Saturday night, Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp revealed that Invicta Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg will officially take the first step towards fighting Ronda Rousey in her next fight.
Knapp stated at the Invicta FC 14 post-fight press conference that Cyborg will indeed compete at a 140-pound catchweight bout at the next Invicta event in November, however an opponent for Cyborg has yet to be announced.
Cyborg (14-1, 1 NC) was told outright by the UFC that the only way she can get a fight against Rousey is if the bout is for Rousey’s UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship, which means the fight must be contested at 135 pounds, a weight Cyborg has never fought at before.
