That shit would just be confusing, but you could be right. The second quote is slightly ambigious where it talks about different tribes. A quickj search says Eloi is one of the human sub-species from H G Well's the Time Machine. So I guess Eloi must be her tribe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eloi
Possibly means other tribes are the equivalent of the Morlocks (though probably won't have that name), which will be behind why they treat Aloy differently when she goes to a non-Eloi tribal area.
Time machine is set hundres of thousands of years in the future. I wonder if that's the timescale here too, which is why it's post-post-apocalyptic.
