I do hope it's not just "conflict" with machines. Interesting stories come from conflict between people (or between "civilised" races/species). Conflict with mere machines would become bland after a while. Unless of course teh machines have a ruling class of machine that can be the equivalent of a human tribe.

The IGN article says "Eloi", but I think most articles I've seen used Aloy.

I think her name is Aloy, but her people are the Eloi.   Might be making it up, but could be right :)
