It would be a disaster... and that's why Valve isn't making it. The know they can't life up to the expectations people have for the game.

It's still their fault for not closing the series. They wouldn't be in this position if they had jsut made the ending, at the intended time. a decade of begging and boners wouldn't be in the way.

I didn't say that it wasn't their fault, I just said that they were/are afraid of doing it and fans not liking the game.

And I agree with you that it's their fault. It's Valve who have created those expectations after so many years and so many HL 3 teases.
