Why are people happy with game exclusives but not movie exclusives??

The only "movie exclusive" thing I can think of is a movie not releasing on America/Europe/Japan for X reasons. And even those tend to finally cross frontiers, like Ex Machina, which took a while to release on America.

 

So yeah, I don't properly grasp OP's example here.

Aye, much of that is due to publishing issues, I believe.

This conversation however would more imply that X movie can only function on certain hardware, which is absolutely inaccurate.  Example simply doesn't fit.
