There's a massive remnant of Mario fans of the 80s/90s to whom Super Mario Maker is infinitely more appealing than any other WiiU release thus far.

There's a considerably good chance this is actually the WiiU's biggest HW mover so far. Kind of helps though that it gets followed up by other decent releases  within 3 months after SMM release (Yoshi, AC Amiibo crossing, Star Fox, XCX) and it has the rest of the holiday to go.

Compare SMM to previous notable WiiU september releases: Wind Waker HD, Rayman Legends, TW101, Hyrule Warriors. It's obvious SMM walks all over those in the HW moving department
