Well, they got criticized for focussing on Cinect for YEARS after it was released at the expense of "real games"--they even believed in it enough to make its successor a pack in with each Xbox One console. They didn't make Titanfll so....what should they have done? And KillerStinkt still gets regular new content and a total overhaul from when it was launched almost two years ago. So, it may seem like they forget about something but I guess things aren't always what they seem.
Some other companies have similar track records like the EarToy (or the PS4 Cumera), the Wii Motion Minus, or the Playstation Moo. It's not just M$. I could write an essay on abandoned concepts, games, and peripherals.
