The same people who don't use their gym memberships are likely to be the same people who stop using Wii Fit after a couple months or less if it doesn't produce magic results or they no longer find it entertaining.
Not that it matters to Nintendo, seeing as how the purchase has already been made. Even if people only used it for one week, it's all the same to them so long as it continues to sell.
