Their games didn't make much of a profit while they supported it, neither moved hardware. Plus they must have spent 5 times more money in ads and loss from hardware sales, trying to sell it for as low as €40. Some important executive must've said "vita is dead" and I can't really blame him, even being a handheld fan.
Wii U is in a completely different situation. It's first party sells even better than PS4ONE's and moves hardware that actually makes profit.
