You're also assuming that he meant it would sell 77K or more.  Not that he was just pointing out that 20-30K seems a tad low for a pretty well-respected franchise in Japan.

Indicating the previous performance, is not 'random', it's using past performance and comparing it to what some are currently predicting and reasonably suggesting it'll probably sell a bit more than 20-30K (20K would be 2K more than it sold the week prior...which I don't think is a reasonable bump, for an MGS game).
