I wouldn't say that, exactly. I used to beg for new games. Even the sports games of the time were all about figuring out the timing and exploiting the loop-holes. It's true I did love the NES but it wasn't until I found Final Fantasy (1) that I fell in love with an individual game, as it brought much more imagination to the table than most other titles. My number one hobby as a kid was reading science fiction and fantasy novels so I've always craved greater depth and immersion from gaming, so I'm pretty happy how things have progressed.
It's certainly true that I don't appreciate games as much now, though. Kid version of me would be shocked that I have so many games that I've never even played.
