Nintendo has lost the casual and core alike. What remains is Diehard nintendo fans, and while numerous it is not enough to be viable in bussines terms. Especially not if they go with parity hardware. Then the development costs would just get too difficult, not to mention the ressources needed to maintain online infrastructure. II see nintendo having the least chance of fighting back the coming years with microsoft being able to stay competitive and break even at the very least. Truth is, the gaming landscape has just become too small for 3 platform holders.
