This is a tricky topic. I just noticed that you can buy weapons and vehicles via "shortcuts" in Battlefield 4 TODAY. I don't think most people too much attention to DLC or Micro-transactions. To those people, the game isn't altered or ruined in any way because they simply don't know any better. I don't care if some noob has a high powered gun or tank, Ill play and level up the old fashioned way. Truth is I don't know how they got their gear but it doesn't really affect me in the slightest, skill still wins at the end of the day. Id wager its the same for most of these other games.
I've always considered DLC to be for hardcore fans. Most DLC can be ignored and it wont ruin the game. Case in point all the Battlefield 4 expansions, you don't necessarily need them to get the full B4 experience. Same with Mortal Kombat X. Im not losing any sleep over not being able to play as Tremor, Tanya, Jason or the Predator. DLC also helps publishers by maintaining or reigniting interest in their games and keeping players invested until their next product ships.
Microtransactions are a bit more complicated. I think these are used by more casual players who would never take the time to do things the proper way. So even with those perks I don't expect them to be particularly good at the game, they wont be much of a threat at all. Devs probably use micro-transactions as a lucrative and easy way to get new players hooked. Over time those players may learn how to respect the game and play it properly.
In summary. DLC offers more content to the most dedicated and enthusiastic fans, Microtransactions are for casuals who don't have time to progress the regular way, and everyone else can simply ignore both and still have a good time.
