That's stupid. Metroid isn't some teen rom-com. Samus's sexual orientation is irrelevant. Nobody gives a shit who's she gets the hots for.

Samus' gender is equally irrelevant yet it's made her famous. People obviously do give a shit, it's a good marketing tool.

Metroid isn't Power Rangers either, which is what you're suggesting.
