It seems that a lot of people here don't play ND games in multiplayer, so you don't seem to be aware of that shit, but to my knowledge especially TLOU later on locked the best weapons behind a paywall. Am I, as an avid ND multiplayer gamer just supposed to sit here and accept that because people are willing to pay? I'm not willing to pay for something like that, so I should just accept being put at a disadvantage for not wanting to shell out more than the already 60€ that I paid initially to get the game? Seriously? |
Actually yes. Play a different game if you don't like it. Or at least skip the multiplayer.
Look, I think we can all agree it's pretty shoddy to offer pay-to-win aspects especially in multiplayer but as bad form as it is if there is a market for it then why shouldn't ND or any company tap that market? Especially if they deliver in other aspects that satisfy their customers? Whining about these things does no good but add to the cacophony of gamers who are always whining about something but not willing to put their money where their mouth is. Nothing says you mean business more than voting with your wallet. Sure it can help to attach a statement to that vote so that developers can get a clear sense of why you don't buy their game(s) but it's about the money which is the single greatest bit of feedback you can give to those selling a product. Hyperbole like "ND's greed is out of control." Doesn't help either just makes gamers look like imbeciles.
In this case ND is a rare exception in so far as they actually deliver fabulous, complete single player experiences that most can't miss and they add multiplayer on top of it. Which, btw is usually pretty damned good in it's own right but yeah they also monetize the hell out of it and if they can get some extra funds out of it they have no problem doing so.
I find this whole subject to be a mole hill made into a mountain. I don't spend money on DLC, especially so when it is pay to win, so I could really care less about how ND monetizes their DLC. But I do care about the gaming community and I do care about how immature many of us tend to approach these subjects. I say grow the eff up and stop whining about everything and use the power of the purse/wallet to send your messages to developers. It's much more effective than hyperbole posted in the GAF forums.
