I just don't see it happening and it's a pity because the PSP was my favorite handheld ever. I don't understand why Sony neglected their handheld division in the years before the Vita's release. I also can't wrap my head around why they waited so late to release the Vita (or those proprietary memory cards, or those specs / price point). I also don't get why they have done nothing to correct these issues. They really seem to have given up on competing in the handheld space and that does not bode well for the prospect of another handheld.

If they do release another handheld they should do so ASAP but seeing that Sony doesn't have a clue how to interpret the market they will wait far too long before release. They could make it more successful by using more modest hardware and releasing at a more competitive price. They also need to do a far better job with their digital content, both in terms of availability and pricing. They can't use proprietary memory cards and they need to forget about any unneeded gimmicks. They have to raise customer awareness by advertising and they have to court third party developers. If they are unable to convince third parties from producing "AAA" titles then they would need to start more second party partnerships.
