But I do care. If the truth gets oppressed, then stealth actions will become more prevalent. The mod team is just making work harder for themselves and as a side effect they are also playing into the hands of the most malicious people, because they give them a layer of protection by not allowing the community to speak up against them in public. |
At least 80% of user reports were submitted by the same group of people for instances that made no moderation sense, even just hurting a person's feelings would see reports, another tact used is to bait a user then back off, and report them so that the reported post features a neutral comment of Thiers and an aggressive comment from the other party, its fucking laughable what people report at times and resulted in many situations of the reporter being moderated as well as the reported user.
I see no point in disallowing the term fanboy, or a bunch of other taboo words, people still troll, people still bait, people still flame, they just do it in ever increasingly underhanded fringe ways that either avoid moderation or force the rules to be stretched to a point where things are just stupid.
It makes no fucking sense, we all know people are fanboys. We all know peoples comments are trolling. Even when done in a way that technically avoids moderation, rules on what you can and can't say getting stricter doesn't change a fucking thing with regards to the atmosphere, it just makes staffs job harder and half the user base being sneaky fuckers trying to take pot shots without penalty.
I quit being a moderator because my mother passed away and I've been dealing with that, but I was considering quitting even before then because I felt like being a moderator made no real impact to things at all, if anything it made things worse because I'd call someone out and they'd use the "you're a Mod you can't say that!" Shit, acting like I'm supposed to be a role model when the truth is nobody really gives a shit, nobody follows moderators examples they do whatever they want to do, they just throw that argument when a Mod states the obvious because unveiling a troll that's already super transparent is perceived as stripping back some of thier sneaky protection.
Tldr, people are assholes and will just find new ways to be assholes if the usual ways are against the rules.
