Over $10 billion revenue (70%) paid to app developers + over $4 billion (30%) revenue for Apple to keep last year: http://appleinsider.com/articles/15/01/08/apples-app-store-generated-over-10-billion-in-revenue-for-developers-in-record-2014 The biggest part of the AppStore-revenues are games. Most of Apple's 30%-share will be profit with no own risk. With these numbers Apple can "risk" another iOS form factor and should "survive" if it flops. |
According to http://www.pocketgamer.biz/metrics/app-store/ there are 412,624 active games currently on the app store.
If you unite all of those games budgets, you couldnt make one GTA V.
Im sorry, but i dont want to spend the rest of my gaming days playing Angry Birds and Candy Crush.
