The more complex structure she mentions is something that differentiates Banjo from Mario 64 in a nice way, but it also limits the replayability of the game. Super Mario 64 is simply a lot better to pop in and pop out of, While in Banjo I feel like I have to do a whole world in one sitting. The way moves are implemented also makes it so that you can't hop into worlds as freely as you'd like or you'll frustratingly find many jiggies that will be frustratingly out of reach. In controls I find Mario 64 better. Sure Banjo and Kazooie have a more interesting move set, but Mario feels much more agile and satisfying to control. Both great games, but Mario 64's the one I want to go back to time after time. That being said, the video did make me want to play some Banjo. |
This is how I feel. Also I do like the soundtrack of mario better. Maybe not so much on its own to listen to compared to banjo but i think for me anyway it gels better with the level you playing.
