A remaster, is improving the presentation of an existing game.

Let me give you an example of each. Race the Sun on the PS4 is a port. It sees no upgrades from the PS3 version and is simply ported over to the new system.

The Last Of Us: Remastered is a remaster. It's the same engine and coding, but received improved textures, lighting, and models, on top of an improved frame rate and resolution.

You're gonna have to show me a pic of those improved models.  I got TLoU for ps3 and ps4 and I don't see it!

My mistake, the Digital Foundry article said that the cut-scene models were used during gameplay. They have since updated the article to say they aren't though.
