Gun laws in the US are fucked up. When will you learn America?

Wouldn't make a difference. Just about anything can be used to kill a person. It's easier to track down a killer who used a gun. He could of used something worse.

Yet gun-related deaths are much higher in the US than any European country. Overall murder rates are also higher in the USA than continental Europe and Great Britain.

In my country Brussels has a big problem with illegal weapons and it nearly cost the life of many people on a Thalys train to Paris (attack was stopped by 3 American tourists and a British person though). So yes, better laws against guns (and the enforcement of said laws) could save many potential lives. The weapon industry has too much influence in the USA and also Belgium (weapon export is one of the most important economical sectors here).

Well, it's too late to really to do much about legal guns in the US because it's one of our rights to have them. There's nothing wrong with legal guns owned by law abiding citizens. There's other ways to stomp out gun violence but it's hardly mentioned. They can crack down heavily on black market guns, gangs, drug dealers and put all of the police databases on the same network. It's still fairly easy to outrun a warrant issued by a state in the US. Move a couple of states away and the warrant won't show up.

Laws can change. The second amendment was made during a time of "civil" war, so the threat of the British army invading your home was very much real. In that context it is normal that every US citizen has the right to bear arms. In a modern context, with no threat of foreign forces invading your country, it doesn't make sense at all to allow every US citizen the right to bear arms.

It's crazy. Why let a law from the 18th century determine your life? It might not be possible to remove the second amendment from the constitution, but it is possible to add a new amandment that negates the second one...
