Yeah lol with designer clothes and haircuts. I've got nothing against modern-futuristic settings for RPGs. I like some of the Star Ocean, Persona and Tales games that are in those settings. It's just not what I come to the Final Fantasy games for, especially if XIII is their best effort at depicting a futuristic Final Fantasy world.
I've also preferred the games where they mix technology in an odd way, but so that it works. Usually by having the empire/villain faction of the game being the one that holds all the technology.
