The Wii U games I bought were Yoshi's Wooly World, Splatoon, Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush (Edit: And Captain Toad. I just realised that was also 2015 in the eu). I enjoyed them all and look forward to Mario Maker, Starfox and Xenoblade X. I might also give Fatal frame a try.

I'm also am currently loving the vc release of Xenoblade which I didn't think I'd like because I've moved well away from massive openwold rpgs in recent years. I love the fact you can basically ignore all the crappy sidequests and focus on the main linear story. You can do that in other big openworld rpg's but I felt no pressure to do any of the subquests in xenoblade and I don't think I would have enjoys it half as much if they were a focus for me.

I'm only 20 hours in so I do fear it'll become a tedious grind before I'm finished, like many rpg's do for me, but so far I think it's great and look forward to the sequel.

I will probably rate this my favourite overall year for first party Wii U games by the end. That's because of my tastes. I understand other years had bigger games for many people. Also last year I had more time to waste on games so maybe this years long waits between games would have bugged me more in other years.

I expect by the end of the year to give it an 8 or 9 out of ten. That's assuming my three most hyped games for this year don't disappoint.

I didn't play my 3ds much this year. I played a some old games from past years like bravely default which I loved the first 4 chapters of. MM3D is a really great remake. My 3ds is very old now and the battery lasts about an hour these days so I'm turning to my Wii U gamepad more often. The Zelda game might be good and I enjoyed the demo of code names steam but mixed reviews put me off. There has been little of interest to me on 3ds this year.
