There is no reason why these can't be DLC on the Wii but at least this is an acceptable substitute for Nintendo's retardation when it comes to DLC and online systems.

That's easily my biggest complaint with the system.

I disagree with you.

You place the blame for lack of DLC on Nintendo when the true fault lies with the publishers. They could easily release DLC for Rock Band Wii. 5 or 6 songs could fit on the HD if I'm not mistaken.

What this would do is:

A. Cause Nintendo to take serious notice of the storage problem.

B. Earn revenue for Nintendo and the publishers of Rock Band.

Instead, what obviously happened is the developers weren't sure about the validity of DLC on the Wii due to several factors:

1. Thought they would be blamed for the storage problems by releasing large DLC.

2. DLC is not a prove money maker on the Wii.

3. Rock Band has already, for lack of a better term, "blown its load." It's likely to sell poorly on the Wii due to the late released and inferior quality.

4. It would require no extra development to port from PS2 to Wii, if you leave out the online mode.

I think the main argument against this being Nintedo's fault is this:

The game is a direct port of the PS2 version. Even with DLC, it would still be the inferior version of Rock Band in almost every way. DLC is just the major issue that has risen out of the number of smaller issues. Harmonix has sucessfully diverted attention towards Nintendo as blame for Wii's Rock Band sucking, while at least most, if not all of the blame lies directly with whoever calculated their risk/cost/benefit analysis.

When you look at it that way, it's hard to call Nintendo retarded because of Rock Band, and frankly, the decision to trim costs by reducing internal storage to a minimum turned out to be a pretty successful business decision, if not a practical one, I think you'll agree.

These publishers can't just put DLC on the Wii by themselves. Nintendo would have to set up some kind of system that allows it to happen. The publishers also need permission from Nintendo to add content to the console.

Besides, there shouldn't be a storage problem on the Wii. If Nintendo would just un-gimp the add-in memory and what it is allowed to do, this wouldn't be an issue.

I'm sorry but this entire situation is squarely in Nintendo's lap.
