I have ps4 since day 1, and i can suggest the following:
- buy games used, there is no need to pay full price.
- go to magazine you trust and buy the highest rated ones. I dont really know what type of gamer you are, but i list some categories and games. Sports: nba2k (14 version is enough, and used its 10 bucks), i also love trials fusion. Rpg: get witcher 3, i had also much fun with finalfantasy10 remastered. Action: get god of war 3 remastered, bloodborne, last of us remastered, i liked dmc too. Racers: get project cars (skip driveclub). I think when you buy a few and follow a good online magazine, you can build up a fine collection, and when buying used, its not so expensive.
- if you plan to get more than 10 games, consider to change the hard drive.the standard model is 500 gig, i just bought a 2 tera for 115 eur. The swap is really easy. Go for a google search and follow the step by step description. Trust me, its safe and easy, you dont loose guarantee of the system and worth the cash. (Its 2 new games). Just calculate: games like last of us remastered or nba2k14 require a 30-50 gig installation. After 10 games, you will start to uninstall games.
- do psn plus. 2 reasons: 1 you can play online only with this feature. E.g. if you wanna play bloodborne online by helping kill a boss or getting help, psn plus is a must. 2. You get free games every month. 1-2 every time. You can download them and they can only be started on your ps4 as long as your user is plus member. Example games: metal gear solid 5 ground zero, killzone shadow fall, dont starve, binding of isaac, outlast. I play those games very much and they are in the end for free. My psn costs 50 eur a year.

Some usefull features: well i use it to play, and as dvd and bluray player. My girlfriend uses netflix and youtube, as its fun on the big screen. Thats about it.

Hope i could help!
