Wars are expensive, is my point. You can have a big army to protect your citizens but actually going to war is expensive, Clinton didn't (whether by his choice or not) so the economy under his term was very good. That might not have the been the only reason the US had a surplus not deficit in that time but it helps.
There is enough evidence in this thread to see why the lesser of 2 evils is the one not being treated as a joke. There are better Republican candidates than that.
