One thing that Sony hasn't seen coming so far this gen is how software will transform the X1 and give its successor a headstart in terms of BC, Windows integration, Windows ecosystem across devices and cloud computing. It will be interesting to see how Sony respond to some of these. I still think Sony need to partner with Google as they are behind it terms of expertise when it comes to software. |
There is little to respond to the Windows integration/ecosystem since they are a response to the PlayStation/Xperia ecosytem. And let's not forget that Sony like with PS Now may add Remote Play to any device if only they want to. Smart television, all Android phones, iOS, Windows, OS X, you name it. It's just a matter of writing a small client application for each one. Or just open up the Xperia app to all Android. But apparently they don't care.
Instead it would be about time for Sony to deliver the rumored PSOne and PS2 emulators at 1080p. Hopefully supporting the physical discs as well (they could even introduce trophies for the digital versions, since they have a patent for it). They won't fix the ugly graphics of games like FF VII, but there is the remaster (and then the remake) coming for that.
