With my old laptop I quite literally could not handle the internet with ads. The lag was unbearable, and the clutter was awful on my 720p display. Not fun. Adblock was on %100 of the time. Now, with my desktop, I almost never use adblock, though I still do with my Atom tablet for obvious reasons.
Ultimately, it costs money to run a website, and said money has to come from somewhere. I'd rather deal with ads than have to pay a fee to visit the sites I frequent. In my view, the only difference between adbock and piracy is the fact that one is legal while the other is not.
