I'm guessing that's what they did, anyway. There is no logical reason why we shouldn't be able to update both Usernames and Emails as they are obviously something we may want to change unless they set up their database wrong and now can't.

The fact MS charges for something that is as simple as an update SQL on a unique field that is unique is odd enough.


They said it was to discourage people from griefing you one day, changing their name, and then coming back and griefing you again.  If somebody really wants to change their name, the fee isn't too high but it's high enough to keep people from getting away with that.

It's kind of moot, though.  Both PS4 and Xbox One allow you to use your real name on the consoles.
