When i started playing videogames around 1995, i got a Gameboy Pocket and i loved it. The next year, I got a N64(which is my favorite console of all time) and enjoyed the wide range of games, and great games for kids that even adults can't help but enjoy. The Gamecube came out and I wasn't impressed with the range of games. I thought that it was just a bad generation so I waited for the next generation in hopes for a better range of games. The Wii came out and i have to admit that it is incredibly fun to use the motion sensors...for about a month. I still enjoyed the motion sensors but it wasn't INCREDIBLE to me. They have some great games like SSBB, SMG, TP, but some games that sold over a million really just blow my mind like that Carnival game...I'm sure its fun, but come on!!! They are commited to these more childlike games than people my age(17) and above. I doubt they are going to go back to making satisfying shooter games(Metroid Prime is ok, but it comes out once like every 3 years and i am not going to wait that long). So saying all this, I think that Nintendo is not for me.

You were 4 years old when the N64 came out, obviously your view on gaming is different from 4 to 17.  However, don't think that just because you're 17 that you're too mature for Nintendo.  I'm 24 and i have the same kind of childhood memories about the late NES and SNES days, they seem like everything was perfect because you just didn't know better.  You'll see things different in a few years.

You'll be looking back on yourself and saying how immature you were for trying to be so mature.  The games that you think are mature may not actually be as mature as you think they are.  With that said you can't go wrong with buying a PS3 or a 360, but the wii is a great system as well.
