Now my guess is the 4 blockbusters for the XB1 are: Halo 5 Thomb Raider: 2015 Forza 6 Gears of War remake is that it? People don't trust 343i anymore, not after Halo 4 and the MCC fiasco... their footage is less than interesting so far, same can be said of the new Thomb Raider footage, it's very buggy and underwhelming, people do want to love this game, but if you look at it honestly it looks somewhat interesting, but I don't see it setting anyone's heart on fire... you can already tell the story will be cheezy as hell... Gears of war, it looks like a nice remake, like the Uncahrted collection, but less interesting as... well this is Gears of War, this is not Uncharted... Forza 6 may very well be one of the top racing game ever released, I don't do simulation so I can't tell how important the new features will be (it seems mostly like catching up to me). So honestly, I see why people say MS has more "big" titles coming up during the holiday season (please forget about the rest of the year, only the games released in the last 3 months of the year count!) but those 4 games are a very small percentage of the whole library available on each platform at this point, some may be deeply flawed (that happens on all paltforms all the time), but what counts is for MS to have some good PR in the mean time so that people get in the mood of buying their console, this is what this discussion is about: will MS succede? and are their tricks and mirrors enough to fool people into thinking they have a good product?... so far they can fool the americans, I guess there is a reasoning behind the saying: "Stupid Americans..." - they're easy to trick... On the other hand, this is normal to have one region picking a different console than the others (or putting the under-dog on equal footing as the global leader). A bit of hsitory: 8-bit: NEs was the clear leader globally (US, Japan mostly) but in Europe the Sega Master strived and it "won" in Brasil for some reason. 16-bit: Sega was barely present in Japan, they held their own against Nintendo in the US and Europe, the PC-Engine (Turbo-Grafx 16 in North-America) only made a dent in the Japanese market, despite its uge library! 32-bit: The Sega Saturn did not sell that well, however in Japan it did pretty good for itself (it still sold less than the PSX, but it sold more than the N64 there) PS2/DC/Xbox/GCN: The PS2 was the undeniable leader, however the xbox sold well in some territories, not sure how sales were spread as far as the GCN goes... PS3/Wii/360: The Wii sold way more than both other consoles while it was selling well... but the 360 eventually overtook the Wii total unit sold in both the US and Britain! This only goes to show that giving % of sales does not tell the whole story, a product can survive by being popular in a specific market, the problem is people calling this product "leader"beause of it. |
Your one of those " glass half empty " kind of guys, aren't you?
