Project Knoxville:
Project Knoxville is a 3rd person multiplayer action-survival game in which players MUST work both together and against each other. It is framed in a sadistic game show, similar to the ones in ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘The Running Man’, but here all of the contestants can survive if they work together and don’t let greed or personal gain get the best of them. With this game, we aim to go further than anyone else when it comes to dynamic relationships and spectator interaction.
WHY THIS CONCEPT
Our motivation for coming up with the concept is that we miss games where cooperation and competitive gameplay is more dynamic and interesting. This concept will combine high-tension action-gameplay with interesting strategic elements based on social interaction with other players. We believe this constellation is quite unique and will pave the way to all new emergent experiences.
An equally important aspect we are eager to work on is to make a game that is just as exciting to watch as it is to play. We want the audience to be able to interact. This is where the game show framing truly excels since it allows for an endless amount of opportunities, no matter whether it is done through the actual game, Twitch, Twitter, or other platforms. We see this game as something that will evolve, not only throughout the production, but also after release. At this point in time, we are not able to predict where this will take us, but we expect and believe that it will be a truly special and awesome experience!
ABOUT THE GAME
We classify the game as a 3rd person multiplayer action-survival game. With action-survival, we mean survival as both premise and main objective. For us, it is not just another game in the highly popular survival genre. It is not a matter of just surviving as long as you can and there is no hunger, zombies, crafting or shelters. The action-oriented gameplay is emphasized as the game is played in rounds of about 10-20 minutes, not unlike ‘Left4Dead’ and ‘Counter Strike.’ We also envision a rich meta-game where players have a set of ‘contestants’ to choose from before sending one into the arena. These contestants will be highly customizable and upgradable.
FEATURES
Dynamic relationships
This is a very unique feature that enables players to make alliances and friends easily while keeping the players immersed in the game world. The approach is to make the game characters intelligent and context-aware while at the same time making the players able to influence them. This is designed to work without voice-chat.
Spectator interaction
As in any good game show, we want the audience to be able to influence the game in as many interesting ways as possible. Ranging from ideas such as sponsoring, betting (with in-game currency of course), and large-scale events.
Dynamic and diverse game show arenas
The game show setting means everything from arenas to game show rules can and will be changed over time to be optimized for the best possible entertainment for both the players and the spectators.
Afterlife mechanic
This feature ensures an interesting game after your contestant dies as well as a deeper consideration of your actions. When people die, they will be able influence the game for the remaining players. An example could be to spawn a wolf next to the person who killed you. In this way, you can get back at those who wronged you and help your friends out.
Intense high-stakes combat
Fighting is intuitive and skill-based. The scenarios are filled with dangerous creatures and fighting is necessary to survive. Weapons are sparse, but can be found scattered around the scenarios. The desperate fight for survival will often result in contestants fighting each other. Fights will be gritty and swift and almost always conclude with the death of either a contestant or a creature.
Upgrade system
Our ambition is to build a rich meta-game around upgrading the contestant characters. Players need to care about their contestants and contestants that are doing well should build up their fame and reputation.
Below is a teaser of the core gameplay from our early prototype experiment. Keep in mind the prototype was made solely to get a better understanding of our core concept. The final game is years away. By then, all the weird stuff, crude animations, and badly implemented features will be replaced with highly-polished assets and mechanics. Also remember that what you see is just a few of the many features there will be in the final game.
Project Karoo
Imagine a game where you could play as an inventor who had the ability to construct any kind of vehicle. A game where in your inventions you could travel far and wide and bring back new parts and valuable items. Imagine the inventions were all subject to the laws of physics; if they collided with objects or the ground, they would split into a thousand pieces. Imagine a game world where new places were regularly discovered and ready to be explored. Imagine your friends were there too.

WHY THIS CONCEPT
We are big fans of construction games and in the early days of Press Play we even made a few of them of our own. Recently there has been an increase in physics based construction games, but we have noticed two things: firstly, very few support multiplayer and secondly, even fewer give the constructions the context and purpose that a character and an open world do. So we have set out to create a physics based construction game that allows for multiplayer and lets the players control a character in a huge, believable world.
The construction games market is growing, but none of the games out there do what we intend to do. That is why we are eager to give you Karoo.
GAME FEATURES
Project Karoo stands out by being the first truly physics based open-world multiplayer construction game.
Invent any vehicle
The simple block system makes it easy to construct basic vehicles but also allows for very complex machines.
Multiplayer
Project Karoo can be played alone but you can also meet up with other players and co-construct a vehicle with multiple seats and go on adventures together, or you can challenge your friends to competitions. Multiplayer means local splitscreen, LAN or online.
Open World
We envision an open world littered with pickups, spare parts, challenges and tailored adventures that will put every contraption to the test. Our first world is a desert but we want to add many other biomes.
Characters
The characters give your constructions a purpose and are crucial to making the game world feel like a real place.
Project Dwarka
Team up with a group of friends and become a band of legendary dwarven treasure hunters, exploring a procedurally generated underworld filled with gold and monstrosities. As dwarves, you are experts in underground survival and have the tools to overcome any obstacle in your way – be they bottomless pits, insurmountable walls, collapsed mines, flooded tunnels…or deadly monsters.

Why This Concept
Project Dwarka is born out of a combination of our passions: Badass dwarves, dark fantasy, deep co-op gameplay, and really good procedural world generation. Our approach to co-op isn’t something we’ve come across before. The dependence on your teammates already evokes a strong sense of actual teamwork – and that in a rough prototype! The world is slowly being fleshed out and the game mechanics are starting to slide into place like the cogs of a well-greased machine. We are already seeing glimpses of a game that you can return to again and again with your closest friends.
For many of us, Project Dwarka is a dream game: one that has been brewing in the backs of our minds for years and which we would love to share and develop alongside the rest of you.
