20-km-high 'space elevator' could be a reality soon

20km is not really a space elevator, it's still miles away from space. Even aircraft and balloons can reach this altitude without much problem.

A real space elevator would need to reach at least 150km to get to space, and a couple more to reach low earth orbit altitudes
