Skylake build,

i5-6600K ($250) or i7-6700k ($370)

Corsair Vengeance DDR4 16GB ($135-145)

Either 4x4 or 2x8, How much better is the 4x4?  Its only like $10 more.

Not sure which Z170 since there arn't may reviewed units yet.

As Bofferbrauer has said, the i7 is not worth the extra cost if your primary use of the PC is gaming, and with 2 sticks of RAM you tend to have less problems.

Also, take a look at this set of RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance LPX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233833 It's low profile, so you won't have problems with you CPU cooler, at 2,400MHz is faster than the standard frequencu for Skylake (2,133MHz) while being 1.2V and with a CAS latency of 14 is faster than the average. Plus, it's on the "cheap" side.

As for motherboards, any mid range mobo from Asus, Gigabyte or MSI will be good choices. Just make sure that it has USB 3.1 Type C (most will only have 1).

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.
