Believe it or not, people do see value in a single player even if it is sub-par. 

Isn't that why some gamers didn't like Titanfall? While yes, some of it had to do with content itself.

I only see value in single player story mode. Multiplayer should be an added extra after you finish the story, imo. I will never buy a game which is multiplayer only. Hell, even in Destiny, i'd avoid other people as much as i could, and do as much stuff on my own that i could.

I'm one of those people. I enjoy a good single player camapign with a story. I can't stand doing the same crap over and over again on multiplayer.
