Though I think it's fairly certain there's intelligent life on other planets somewhere, I really doubt they were ever here, if it's even possible at all for any species to travel that long and far. Would be a pretty big coincidence, in the billions of years the Earth exists and still will exist, those aliens just happened to show up here on our planet amongst countless billions, in our lifetime no less just to stop the Cold War from turning into a real one. Why would they care anyway?
Unless we're just one big reality tv-show like South Park says...
