Dunno. I've always been quite the opposite, really. I have always liked Japanese games, Nintendo is still quality, and companies like Capcom, Konami, Hudson and Square USED to all make some of the best games ever made.

I would go so far as to say that most of my top favorite games of all time (SMB3, Mega Man 2, Super Castlevania IV, Street Fighter II, Kirby's Adventure, Adventure Island 2, Super Metroid, etc etc.) were pretty much entirely Japan-developed.

But as for Anime, I've never been hugely into it. I love Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki films, but I don't consider those conventional "anime" really. I also love some of Miyazaki's earlier work, like Lupin the Third and Future Boy Conan (that especially being an excellent show). The really early Voltron stuff was also decent. The first Vampire Hunter D movie I really liked. And even though I'm not really a BIG fan, Dragonball and DBZ have a certain charm to them.

As far as modern anime goes, Fullmetal Alchemist is an excellent show. I prefer the first over the (more accurate to the manga) second, though they're both good. I also dug the first season of Spice & Wolf when I was for some reason compelled to check it out. Too bad the second season was dull and pointless, and it appears they'll never actually finish the series.

Outside of that stuff I've mentioned though, I'm just really not that much of a fan of anime in general. A majority of the shows I've watched, I didn't or couldn't' really get into, even though I DO, being a big fan of animation, really respect and appreciate them for keeping traditional cell animation alive and kicking.
