Not just lines (vocal or text), but opening lines; you know, the ones that first show up after you've booted a game and maybe after a quick intro or two to set a certain mood and instantly draws you in, or provides an ambiguous 'preview-drop' that will only make sense or appear later once you've delved further into the narrative, or just iconic, epic, and/or funny one-liners that manage to pave a way perfectly into the inaugural scene or level, etc. I don't know if it's that popular of a consideration, lol, but out of curiosity and finding myself liking a few (particularly the first one below), I decided, 'Why not,' and put up a thread to see what others thought.

To start off, I elect Jak 2's. I mean, there's a gravity there that I don't think the rest of the game even matches, lol, but just to hear them as the camera swoops down Sandover Village and the title fades in and the music swerves underneath with a tinge of sentimentality -- hell yeah, goosebumps everytime. For me, at least, I could be a bit corny. :P O_o But anyways:

"For every age there is a time of trial. The rocks faced such a fire before they were the strength beneath our feet. The plants braved vast winds before their roots could give us life. As a sage of considerable years, I have known only one such great ordeal. Yet the hero it created was a champion for all time."

And Kingdom Hearts':

"So much to do, so little time.... Take your time. Don't be afraid."

Cue a surprisingly decent Disney action-RPG with heavy coming-of-age themes (albeit heavyhanded at times, sure) and an unbeatable Sephiroth, dammit (forgive me, I was still learning the ropes then, lol).

But 'nyways. Enough about me. Et tu, VG?
