"There are ways to sell consoles by losing more money on hardware and building an unnatural business construct that I'd never want to do - at the end, when people make a commitment to Xbox and the consoles they buy, the games they buy, they want to know that Microsoft and Xbox is in it for the long run. To sacrifice the long term for any short term gain doesn't make any sense."

...Sell consoles? Right, that's why they're practically giving them away for free with a Samsung TV for $500 lol. So I wonder how much money did they actually lose per sale from this?

Lol I remember this kind of partnership being done by Sony as much as MS. Buy a Sony TV get a PS3, but a computer get an Xbox 360... Here in Canada Best Buy gives an X1 when you purchase a Surface Pro but it costs 1899$. So when Sony does the same will we get the same reaction?

Yep that's how I got my PS3, BB had a promotion I wanna say around 2010 plus or minus a year where you got a Sony Bravia TV and a free PS3 and it came with a couple games and dvd's seperately as well.  That's back when the PS3 was at least $300-$400, my memory is a little shakey because I had also just bought a 360 and another TV, no promotion there just updating to flat screens and got the 360 because of a job promotion.

I like Phil, he seems like he's really trying to get the Xbox brand into a good place and I'm very happy with the console and the tons of games to look forward to.  I also don't think Xbox needs to be in first to be a success, there's more to it than being #1 as Nintendo seems to always rank last each gen except the Wii.  Does Sony have someone like Phil to hype up the PS4 or is that the job of the fanboys?
