Are you kidding me?  The death-orc promotion system was completely new and the strategy and command aspects were very unique.  Seriously don't let your bias get the better of you.

Bias? I played SoM enough to get all the achievements and whilst death-orc promotion system was new, it became dull and meaningless pretty quick while playing. Good idea it was tho, just not refined enough. Other than that, the game was ridiculousely easy, combat system etc didin't offer anything new, but the game was still fun and good. Maybe this is a bad example but I just can't see why it's seen such a bad thing that Remedy isn't brining a bullet time level innovation to the table. It certainly doesn't look like an average 3rd person shooter...

I think Remedy is aiming for innovative way of storytelling, might not be completely unique but it sure is going to be something new.

Look all I am saying is that is why it got the praise it got - and it was FAR newer an idea than Remedy is showing now.

I will compare this situation to The Order 1886 - a lot of early releases hammered the game for being too derivative and such.  I said the same things you are saying now, and yet the game did indeed turn out mediocre to my surprise.  Not saying this is the same, but I am getting flashbacks here.
