As expected, I guess. Nintendo hasn't been using the same buttons for 25 years because they change the controller every generation. Just to clarify so there's no misunderstanding. I'm not talking about the lettering on the buttons or anything. I was talking about the right analog stick in relation to where the X/Y/A/B buttons are on the gamepad and pro controllers.
It's basically the opposite layout of the 4 buttons/right analog stick on the PS4, Xbox one and yet the gamecube had it's main buttons and analog stick relatively in the same areas as playstation and xbox controllers. Why did nintendo decide to change it for the wii u? For the sake of being different from sony and xbox? Nintendo is so obsessed with being innovative/different from the competitors that they've become the near perfect example of a hipster. Nintendo is being different for just the sake of being different. If sony or micosoft innovate or utilize something new heavily, nintendo will not touch it or it's extremely slow at adopting it. Nintendo consoles still can't play DVDs or blu-ray, doesn't use headsets during gameplay, no live streaming. no cross-game chat and has yet to come with a controller they stick with. Just some examples. The most used buttons on controllers besides the triggers are X and square buttons on a PS controller. It's the same with thing with a xbox controller except they are X and A buttons. Most devs make use of those two buttons heavily which are the closest to the right analog stick. With the wii u controllers, it's reversed which makes the controllers horrible overall and very ackward to use especially to gamers who are long time xbox or playstation owners. I prefer the kind of controllers that the xbox one and playstation 4 have. They are refined more and more every gen. It's easier for 3rd party devs to develope games for compared to the wii u controllers.
If I think nintendo are hipsters or extremely stubborn for not adapting to things they didn't create themselves then yes it's still an opinion. Also, nintendo's general lack of sales for it's consoles is proof enough that they are doing some wrong with their consoles most of the time and I'm sure that their controllers are a part of the reason why. The Wii was a fluke more or less based on the history of it's consoles that caught on with casuals. No, I'm not talking about handhelds every time I mention consoles.

The DS controllers are shit, played Killzone on the PS2 with a friend today, aiming with Dual Analogue is the worst thing I've ever experienced in a game. Didn't help that the game barely ran at 15 fps in dual screen. Then we moved on to Battlefront II which was a much better experience because the game helps you aim and it runs at a much better framerate than Killzone. Still not nearly as good as the gyro controls in Splatoon.
Been mostly gaming on PC and Nintendo, so when I occasionaly take a dive in the PS world I really start to appreciate just how much superior the controllers are on PC/Nintendo consoles. I only play shooters, RTS and MMO games on the PC though.
