I said for now I'll call it God. I didn't say it WAS God. I think it's a machine that's half computer and half organic and the lore will centre around how it came about. If we fly straight to the centre and just find out what's there we may still be puzzled but if we investigate the ruins and try to understand the law we'll know more about what is at the centre. All speculation of course and it could be something completely different but I'd be surprised if it is. The Sentinals are result of the machine (God) sending out an army of protectors (sentinals) to make sure that what happened before doesn't happen again.
