So what's the lesson here?
SE/CD screwed up by going with MS, the smallest franchise fanbase.
MS screwed up by buying timed exclusivity for a franchise that had a solid reboot, but not massively must have break out successful reboot. The idea if this sort of franchise grab is that you get an influx of franchise fans who would have bought PS4, but because they want the game NOW! they will buy Xb one. But it seems the size of the franchise fanbase willing to drop PS4 in favour of Xb one just for this game is a fair bit smaller than MS might have thought. Interestingly, I think a similar thing can be said about the Xbox fanbase for SFV. Sony isn't really going to gain much from the money they spent on SFV, unless they think there's a cross over of fans with TR and SF, with SF exclusivity being a bit of a defensive move.
